Annually, the SAISD Foundation supports more than 150 students scholarships to pursue higher education and Emergency Gap Funding awards to reduce our students’ barriers to stepping on the campus for their first semester. The SAISD Foundation accepts donations, planned gifts and bequests from alumni, businesses, and community donors to support the dreams and aspirations of SAISD students pursuing all forms of post-secondary education. The scholarships and gap funding managed by the SAISD Foundation are done so in partnership with the SAISD College and Career Readiness Team, lead counselors and College Bound Advisors at SAISD’s 14 high schools. New scholarships established for 2020 include: The Joe A. Gamez Scholarship, Detective Clifton J. Martinez Memorial Scholarship, Colonel Marjorie Ann Fernandino Scholarship and Joan Fischer Comer Scholarship. For a full listing of named scholarships click HERE!
We're thrilled to share exciting updates from our students who are currently enrolled in college and have received scholarship and/or emergency gap funding support from the SAISD Foundation. Gabriel Longoria University of Texas San Antonio SAISD Foundation Scholar My first semester at UTSA went exceptionally well. I joined various organizations, such as Aeronautics and Rocketry Club, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. Through my involvement in Aeronautics and Rocketry Club, I am now considering a career in Aerospace. I look forward to the new rigorous courses I will take next semester and everything I will learn.
My first semester at Loyola Marymount University was everything I dreamed of and more. In the beginning, it was a big adjustment for me. I had the most trouble during freshman orientation. I didn’t know anyone who was also attending LMU so I had to make new friends and put myself out there, more than I thought I was going to. However, as soon as I met my best friends and classes started, I knew I had picked the right choice. Claryssa Pacheco Loyola Marymount University SAWHOF Scholar
