Golf FORE Excellence Tournament - Thank you! 

On Friday, June 4, the SAISD Foundation hosted the annual Golf FORE Excellence Tournament. Our event brings together the corporate community with one goal: to support students and teachers in SAISD by investing in the work of the SAISD Foundation. We are thrilled to share with you we were able to raise OVER $100,000! We are forever thankful for so many generous supporters that participated and donated to make an event like this come to life.

The 2020 - 2021 school year is officially over for SAISD! And what a year it is has been! We are grateful for all the staff of educators who are committed to SAISD students. Additional congratulations to new SAISD Foundation scholars for the 2020-2021 school year that have been awarded with scholarships through the SAISD Foundation! In total, the SAISD Foundation awarded 98 scholarships to 2021 SAISD graduates who are headed off to college. A majority of these scholarships are named in honor or in memory of beloved alumni or long-time teachers in SAISD like Debo Williams (Sam Houston), Roland R. Esparza (Jefferson), and Rudy (Jefferson) and Dorothy (Lanier) Davila. New this year, the SAISD Foundation awarded ten $1,000 two-year scholarships, from general donations to students who are active in their high school's co-curricular activities and plan to be active SAISD alumni. Annually, the SAISD Foundation supports student scholarships to pursue higher education and Emergency Gap funding awards to reduce our students’ barriers in starting their post-secondary journey. The SAISD Foundation accepts donations, planned gifts and bequests from alumni, businesses, and community donors to support the dreams and aspirations of SAISD students pursuing all forms of post-secondary education.

We are hosting a Luggage & Dorm Room Drive event for college-bound SAISD students. For $100 you can support the efforts of providing these students with new sheets, towels, laundry bags and items like laundry detergent. Community members are also invited to drop off new or like-new travel bags and new dorm room essentials at the Alamo Convocation Center on Wednesday, July 14 from 12-6 pm. Additionally, a monetary gift can be made by visiting saisdfoundation.com/donate and enter Dorm Drive in the comments. Please call (210) 554-2235 for more information. Edison’s Top 20 Graduates Receive Laptops for College

Students have already graduated and walked the stage, but a few of the top graduates from Edison High School came back to campus to receive a very special gift: a laptop computer. Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, in partnership with the El Rey Feo Scholarship Foundation and the SAISD Foundation, awarded Edison’s top 20 graduates with their own ACER laptop as they prepare to continue their education in college. 

“This is just one example of what we do,” said Fred Arias, area sales manager with Coca-Cola Southwest. “We are a huge supporter of the Rey Feo Educational Foundation.” 

So far this year, Coca-Cola Southwest has given away at least 325 computers to students throughout cities like Houston, McAllen, Austin and Waco. Arias said that Coca- Cola feels it has a social responsibility within the community to connect students to technology and the internet. Thomas Aguillon, El Rey Feo LXXII himself who grew up in the Edison neighborhood, presented the computers to the students. His belief in the power of education is palpable. Full story here! 

Get involved by supporting our Book Buddies book drive and drop off your gently used or new books before July 7 at the Frost Bank Alamo Heights Financial Center on Austin Hwy or the North Frost Financial Center at NE Loop 410.
