November is Scholarship Month

During this month, we would like to express our thanks to all those who make our scholarships and emergency gap funding possible! These donors, a number of whom are SAISD alumni, have seen the power of education and feel strongly about passing the baton of opportunity to SAISD students. This year to date, we have been able to award 150 SAISD students with scholarships and/or emergency gap awards!  This includes students we are flying home to see family for the holidays. 

Our student recipients are also deserving of thanks, as they continue to explore their collegiate experiences and allow us to be a part of their stories. We are honored to walk alongside these students, SAISD's newest alumni, as they embark on their journey and share their ups and downs with us. Because the SAISD Foundation works diligently on building relationships with these students and our donors, together, we can quickly jump in the when challenges arise. We are proud to stand in the gap for these students to eliminate obstacles that could potentially derail their future success. A few of these proud students are pictured below. #ThankfulForTeachers

During this season of giving thanks, we would like to draw special attention to how thankful we are for ALL teachers! As Connie, SAISD Foundation Director, shared above, we all have a special teacher- or five - that sparked an interest, made us feel heard, and turned us into readers, thinkers, learners and good humans. All teachers make a difference, but from now until the end of the year, we will be highlighting teachers who graduated from SAISD schools and are now back in our classrooms shaping students in the halls they once walked. There are plenty of ways you can choose to support the SAISD Foundation and encourage others to do the same. Create a Facebook Fundraiser. To do so, simply log into your FB page and click on “Fundraisers” on the left side. You may need to select “See More” and scroll down to find it. Click on “Select Nonprofit” and search SAISD Foundation, decide how much you want to raise, fill in the blanks then click “Create”. It is that simple! Donate - Support students and teachers in SAISD by making a gift today or leading up to November 30th to share your support.
