Congratulations Innovative Grant Winners! There are three types of grants that SAISD teachers and employees can apply for from the SAISD Foundation to expand student experiences and increase student success. We are continually amazed at the power of educators' ideas to transform classrooms and increase learning. While awarding grants may look different, what doesn't change is the excitement that we see on educators' faces when they learn they have been awarded grants for their projects. Innovative Grants being awarded this fall are for those who indicated their projects could still be implemented currently. Help us congratulate Mrs. Villareal from Twain Dual Language Academy for Spanish language books for middle school age students, Patricia Figueroa (project lead), Amanda Bryant, and Raquel Falcon of Steele Montessori for the Robotics Club and the Girls Newspaper Club at Young Women's Leadership Academy led by Lauren Bunce. Mrs. Lupita Villareal(L), Librarian and David Garcia(R), Principal at Twain Dual Language Academy are presented with a SAISD Foundation grant.
Ready, Set, Sign Up! We're Looking for Volunteers
This school year may look unlike any other, but the need for community support could not be greater. Through our new SAISD Nation platform, community members can sign up for volunteer opportunities that allow them to share their talents with students in San Antonio ISD.
This summer we launched a virtual mentorship program, pairing 2020 grads with caring professionals, many of whom are themselves SAISD alumni. Another alumnus launched a free virtual SAT test prep program for current students. Learn more about both these programs here.
Now we are looking for volunteers to serve as remote mentors and tutors, as well as industry partners who can expose our students to diverse career pathways by recording career-themed videos for students and hosting both live and pre-recorded virtual field trips and career day events.
For those who are looking for an in-person volunteer opportunity, we need lots of hands to help us sort and prep books for student giveaways and others who would enjoy stenciling on a school playground to create more usable outdoor spaces in a post-COVID environment.
Read about all our volunteer opportunities and let us know how you or your company wants to help here.
World Teacher’s Day on October 5th We are excited to be a part of celebrating one of our greatest assets – our teachers! On October 5th, the SAISD Foundation will award additional innovative grants and host the first of our New Teacher Grant Award Virtual Ceremonies, welcoming our newest teachers to the SAISD family. You can get involved too!
Teachers, share your story.
Everyone else, thank a teacher. #TeachersCan is a statewide movement committed to elevating the teaching profession and honoring the critical role teachers play in the success of Texas.
