Attend Achieve & Win: 1st Round Winners |
|
|
We had so much fun drawing our first group of winners for Attend, Achieve and Win! In anticipation of the end-of-the-year drawing for a new Toyota RAV4, we awarded new bikes or gas cards to 30 SAISD students/families. Names were randomly drawn from the digital tickets students earned for strong or improved attendance. The gas cards were delivered before Thanksgiving break and the the bikes are being built at the Force Asset Management’s 2nd Annual “Pedals for Kids” event this Saturday, December 10th. Bikes will be delivered to 20 SAISD elementary students by the incredible SAISD Transportation Department. Students and families have already been notified by their schools, and we can't wait to see the bikes being delivered on the yellow school bus! Continued thanks to Frost Bank and Cavender Toyota for supporting the car giveaway incentive and a special thanks to all who work hard every day to support students getting to school and ready to learn.

School-wide Principal Grants are Back! |
|
|
Research continues to demonstrate that 25% of student outcomes are directly related to the quality of the school principal. In honor of Principal Awareness Month in October, and in honor of our hard-working and talented principals, we offered them the opportunity to submit a grant request to the SAISD Foundation for up to $20,000. Principals submitted their grant requests via video for a project they felt would have a strong and lasting impact across the entire school. We received video submissions from 20 school leaders and are excited to announce that the surprise grant deliveries have begun!
To date, we have awarded the J.T. Brackenridge “Eagle News Express” to launch their campus news station, the Lamar Elementary student government’s request to support student clubs on their campus, and Wilson Elementary's expansion of hands-on STEAM across all grades. See Wilson's principal Dr. Jennifer Zavala's video submission below. See Lamar's video submission here. To read more about these grants and the program click here for an article in the SAISD Insider.
Follow @SAISDFoundation for more school-wide grant award announcements throughout the year. Contact us if you or your company would like to sponsor one of these grants so we can award as many of the principal’s requests as possible. |

Calling San Antonio ISD Alumni |
| |
As alumni of SAISD, you are part of a family. Somos SAISD. Somos Familia. Because you are an integral part of our legacy in San Antonio ISD, we created a dedicated web page just for you. Our proud alumni have shared with us their stories of the genuine appreciation they have for particular teachers, coaches, band directors and administrators who encouraged them to extend beyond themselves and reach their goals or create even bolder goals. We have included ways you can engage and reconnect with not just the SAISD Foundation but will your alma mater, too. Each high school in San Antonio ISD has a page where your stories will be featured, and our donors will be highlighted. You will also see stories from teachers impacted by grants from the SAISD Foundation and students from your high school we have supported in their next educational journey through scholarships and gap funding awards.
We hope you will take a look and submit your update to share your story and inspire today's students to know they too can reach their goals or create even bolder ones. https://www.saisdfoundation.com/alumni/ |

If you are 72 and a half years of age or older and have a traditional IRA account, you are required to take a minimum distribution annually from that account before December 31st. That income is taxable. Making that distribution directly to a charity like the SAISD Foundation (74-2861587) can reduce your tax burden AND make a lasting impact on students in SAISD today! Learn more here from the experts at Fidelity. The SAISD Foundation is also listed with Fidelity and Schwab as a public charity for which you can direct funds from a Donor Advised Fund through direct deposit. Contact us to learn more about these and other ways to ensure students and teachers thrive through gifts from accumulated assets.
