From the first Senior Job Fair to Innovative Grants awarded to SAISD educators, we've been visiting schools around the district to recognize teachers and students who go the extra mile.  We're excited to be investing in and cheering on the SAISD community!

First SAISD Senior Job Fair a Success

In April, SAISD hosted its first Senior Job Fair where more than 700 students visited with over 60 employers and work-based programs. On-the-spot offers were an exciting element of the event. From internships to job offers, students were able to learn more about their fields of interest and build connections with recruiters. We were proud to serve as the fiscal agent of this first-time event and support SAISD's Career and Technical Education and College and Career and Military Readiness Departments. A Record 700 Educator Grants & Awards Reached

This month, we distributed the last of our 2023 Innovative Grant awards! In partnership with SAISD, we awarded 18 SAISD educators a total of $84,000. These awards allowed us to reach a new milestone of 700 educator grants and awards distributed in one school year! From new teacher grants to teacher of the year awards, we are honored to invest in our hard-working teachers.

Our grant supports SAISD teachers in creating unique learning experiences and environments for their students. Mr. Aleman at Burbank High School won an Innovative Grant to expand the hydroponic garden we had funded in his chemistry classroom. In addition to the practical applications in chemistry, Mr. Aleman shares, "It's a big driver of attendance in my room. If a student is having a bad day or is not wanting to participate, I can ask them to do me a favor for the garden then their mood is always improved." Donors and Alumni Increase Scholarships by 30%

Donors, alumni and members of our board came together to award 138 scholarships to students at 15 high schools! Each ceremony created new opportunities for our alumni, community scholarship sponsors and donors to meet the recipients and for many to revisit their alma mater. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, this year we awarded 10 new scholarships, increasing opportunities for our students and increasing the number of scholarships awarded this year by 30%. Review all the scholarships we offer for seniors and stay tuned for more pictures from the celebrations. Read SAISD's coverage here.

Golf FORE Excellence Raises Critical Funds

We are overjoyed with the success of our annual Golf FORE Excellence Tournament! We saw teams enjoy the day and the course while raising $115,450 for SAISD teachers and students. The funds enable us to reach the educator grant and scholarship milestones shared in this newsletter. This year’s student driver was Jordan (Burbank ‘21) who is studying Kinesiology at UTSA! Thanks to Jordan for hitting drives and to Edison's Alyssa Castillo  - SAISD's top female golfer and coach Stein who joined us on the course. A special thank you to our sponsors for investing in students and teachers through this event! See more event photos on our Facebook page and visit the sponsor link above.

Inaugural  Alumni Mixer

On May 10, we hosted our first all-SAISD Alumni Mixer welcoming back alumni from high schools across the district. At the event, our alumni donated to their high schools’ education fund and with a match by three of our board members, two of whom are SAISD alums, we tripled our impact!  The event was held at alumni-owned Augie's BBQ and the ideas were flying about additional ways to come together to support today's students. Do you have an idea to share or an alumni-owned business where you might like to host our next mixer? Email csmith@saisd.net
