Opportunities to Invest Your Time to Support StudentsThank you for considering investing your time with us.
As alumni or friends of San Antonio ISD, you can make a significant and very positive impact on the lives of current students and our newest alumni by giving your time and talents. We need your help to ensure a bright future for the next generation. We have many opportunities that match your interests, skills, and the amount of time you have to give.
Inspired? Here's how YOU can get involved.
Scholarship Review & Remote Mentor
(Recruitment in spring annually)
Scholarship reviewers evaluate student scholarship applications in our online portal and score them using a rubric we provide. Volunteers are critical to helping to find the best matches for the scholarships we award to our inspiring and talented students by providing the SAISD Foundation with valuable input.
You can play a role in meeting the needs of more of our first-generation college students. Be a part of helping our newest alumni thrive in their first year of college and through to graduation.
Book Buddies
(Every Saturday)
Book Buddies is a program of the SAISD Foundation that provides tens of thousands of free children’s books to students in San Antonio ISD schools. The pivotal goal of our program is to help children grow their own home libraries enabling them to be strong and proud readers. Through Book Buddies, volunteers sort through books by grade level, assess the condition of the books, clean them, and place them into boxes to be distributed to the 22,000 students we aim to serve for the 2022-2023 school year.
Book Buddies is located off Hwy. 90 in Port SA and sorting sessions take place every Saturday from 10 am – 12 pm.
Alumni Professional Network
(Recruitment in January annually)
Now in its inaugural year, the Alumni Professional Network is a group of alumni across a variety of industries who are interested in reconnecting with San Antonio ISD. These committed alumni help students and our newest alumni gain exposure to the wide range of careers in San Antonio and the surrounding area by providing networking, connections and exposure through job shadowing, internships, and work-based field trips, or by becoming career speakers.
New Teacher Shopping Day
For the past two years, the SAISD Foundation held a shopping day for the hundreds of new SAISD teachers who were part of the district’s New Teacher Orientation. Every teacher who shopped with us received a $100 to spend on items for their classrooms. They shopped and we were there at checkout to pay the bill and help them start their school year of right.
Stay tuned to volunteer for this event in July 2025!
