Grade-Level Learning Expeditions
The SAISD Foundation, in partnership with the SAISD Curriculum Department, is expanding our Grade Level Learning Expeditions Program to all K-8 SAISD Schools in the 2026-27 school year. The Grade Level Learning Expedition Program is designed to support hands-on field trip experiences to SAISD students so they can connect classroom learning to real-world application and deepen their curiosity. This program is geared towards key concepts that align with course curriculums and TEKS. The Foundation has partnered with local museums and organizations to offer these opportunities, all admission costs and transportation costs are covered by our generous partners and/or donors including The Battle of the Flowers Foundation.
Book Buddies
Our Book Buddies Bus helps build students’ home libraries at no cost to your school. The entire campus is invited by class to board the Book Buddies bus to select up to 4 books to take home and keep. Our program:
✓ Builds home libraries
✓ Supports literacy goals
✓ Creates excitement around reading
✓ Encourages family engagement
✓ Great attendance incentive
Books are distributed through the SAISD Foundation in accordance with district guidelines.

Transportation Support
The SAISD Foundation can help expand student experiences by covering transportation costs for field trips made on a yellow school bus. Schools are eligible for one field trip or event per grade level, per campus, per school year. This includes travel for:
- Traditional Field Trips (must include the entire grade level)
- Grade Level Expeditions
- Performances
- Competitions
In addition to the above, the SAISD Foundation will also cover the transportation cost for one exploratory college tour per grade level, per school year, for all grade levels.
Please note, the Transportation Department requires all transportation requests to be sent AT LEAST FIVE days before the date of the field trip, or the request may be denied.
The SAISD Foundation does not currently cover the cost of admission for field trips.
Take SAISD Students further
Help our San Antonio ISD students to explore more by donating with "Field Trips" in the comments to ensure transportation is not a barrier to unique learning opportunities.
