Through Book Buddies, we providetens of thousands of free children’s books to students

The pivotal goal of our program is to help children grow their own home libraries enabling them to be strong and proud readers. The SAISD Foundation is the nonprofit partner for SAISD that supports students and teachers in San Antonio ISD by expanding opportunities and resources both in and out of the classroom. One of our key programs, Book Buddies, is a volunteer-driven effort that provides a combination of brand-new and gently used books to students across the district to help build home libraries and spark a lifelong love of reading.
Volunteers sort through books by grade level, assess the condition of the books, clean them, and load them on the Book Buddies Bus to be distributed to San Antonio ISD students.

You Can Help Share More Stories

When you support Book Buddies, you’re investing in more than literacy. You’re helping children see themselves as readers, empowering families to read together, and opening doors to a brighter future.

Together, we can ensure that every child has access to books, the joy of reading, and the opportunity to write their own story.
