Young Alumni RESOURCES

Postsecondary Navigators
SAISD graduating seniors and recent graduates have access to Postsecondary Navigators who help young alumni through all the steps in the college enrollment process throughout the year. They also advise and help when students transfer schools. If college is not part of your plan, Postsecondary Navigators help you connect to workforce or military programs.

SAISD Workforce Resources
The SAISD College & Career Navigation in the Adult & Community Education Department center provides a wide array of services for all including industry-recognized certifications, Utilizing their partnerships with ProjectQuest, SA Ready to work and Alamo Workforce Solutions, this team can support referrals to workforce training and skill-building.

Emergency Gap Funding
For students not yet in college, we help pay for housing deposits, enrollment, and orientation fees that are required before their financial aid package kicks in. For students already enrolled in college, emergency gap awards might include replacing a computer, buying equipment that other students in the program already have, or booking a flight home from an out-of-state college/university for the holidays to see family.
College Ambassadors
We are launching this program for the 2023-2024 school year to create a sense of belonging for new SAISD college students through on-campus connections with current college students who are SAISD alumni. Take a look below at our inaugural group of college ambassadors at the pilot universities, St. Mary’s, Texas State University and the University of Texas at Austin.
Young Alumni Update

Jennifer Fuentes | Lanier High School, ’18
My dedicated SAISD educators served as my compass. They offered direction and guidance on a path of academic and lifelong success.

Santiago Hernandez | Jefferson High School, ’21
We feel education gave us a huge advantage in life, it helped us succeed in our careers, so we want to give students that opportunity.

Santiago Hernandez | Jefferson High School, ’21
It’s important to stay connected, if you went to SAISD schools; to be a mentor, contribute in any way you can so we can help students and families that are attending now, I think it is our responsibility and duty to do that.
